one huge flaw

We were SO excited about finding this video monitor and seeing its great reviews. We are returning it after just one night of use because of one thing - the inability to shut off or mute the volume.
Let me first say that this video monitor does have excellent video quality with no lag time or interference from our wireless devices. Both the day and night video were great and the ability to pan were wonderful. It was easy to set up and install on our wall with great view of the whole crib.
That being said, here are a few of the negatives (and the reason for 2 stars):
- the lullaby function is not usable for us, if the volume is high enough for the baby to hear, it's really loud coming through the monitor. When the lullabies play or if you are panning the camera, you can't hear any sound coming from the monitor.
- the temperature was off by 10-12 degrees the whole time we had it installed.
- my main complaint ... you can't mute or turn the sound off. Our baby moves a lot throughout the night and makes a lot of noise thumping around, she also wakes occasionally and talks to herself. Even on the lowest volume setting I could hear every move she made (it's on my side) and what mother or parent isn't a light sleeper when they become a parent? On our audio-only Avent monitor, it has a sensitivity function so that the monitor only goes off if she makes a certain level or consistent noise. I like that because then we wake up only if we need to. For the price of this monitor, it should really have the ability to turn off the volume or at least make it so the parent can choose sensitivity. If they updated it to have this function we'd be happy with it.
It's going back to the store today, I'm so disappointed. If all you need is good video and your baby makes no noise when they're sleeping then this is the monitor for you.

Impressive picture

I just got this a few days ago and so far I've been impressed. The most important feature for us and the reason I chose this unit is its supposedly good video quality, and I very much agree with all the reviews I've read. This monitor produces a very clear picture in both bright and dark conditions. Audio comes through very well, though you can't mute if you don't need it, you can only make it very low. I haven't seen any static or interference caused by other devices in the house. I like being able to pan left or right and tilt up and down. It has a microphone so you can soothe your baby remotely or talk to your spouse or whoever's in the room. A couple of very minor quibbles: the camera doesn't take batteries, so it's not very convenient to move around (if you want to take it with you to different rooms); you'll need to ignore the temperature reading as it's wildly inaccurate (seems to read 10F hotter).

I love my Motorola Video baby monitor! It is by far the best purchase I made in preparation for my baby. It helps give me a piece of mind that she is okay. Sometimes my daughter makes noises, cries, talks in her sleep and I can just look at the monitor and not go into her room and wake her if she is still sleeping. I would highly recommend this product!

Amazing Monitor

When I made this purchase in the fall I was reluctant to buy it as there weren't many reviews and I knew no one who had even seen this monitor before. So glad we bought as it is amazing!!
We bought this monitor after 10 months of issues with both the customer service and monitor we had from Summer. The most important thing to us was the nighttime resolution and it is fabulous. The temperature and "talk back" features are not necessary but totally nice to have.
The only thing I don't really love about it is that you cannot turn the sound all the way off. We live in an apt and I really sometimes just need the video since I can hear my son without.People have also noted that it is annoying to go to the menu to change the volume but I've gotten use to it. Otherwise it is wonderful.
If you can afford, I would recommend going with the 3.5 inch screen. The bigger screen is nice but the tilt/pan/zoom function is necessary for us. OverallI would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who asked.

There is no audio feedback so the only noises I hear are the ones I need to hear- my daughter. The battery life is great. Easy to use hand held monitor and has a stable base. Power cord is long enough. NIght vision is good. Picture quality is also good. I love that I can move the camera remotely and that there is 2 way communication. This is a great monitor for all parents! I went through 2 other monitors (different brands) and wish this one was around when my daughter was born.

best expandable monitor system for twins

After extensive reviewing, my husband and I bought, and returned, the Apple product iBaby. The camera was good but the App - horrible. This lead me to the Motorola. WOW, what a great solution. Camera moves quickly, almost in 360, the controls and screen are great. Another great motorola product. Only wish it had the ability to snap a photo but really, how often will I use that? I'm using this for twins and, might add a second camera because I love this one so much.

returned the summer infant baby touch monitor for this one since the monitor would not pair with the cameras. I've only had this for a few days but so far so good and the picture and sound are much better than the summer infant. The buttons are also easier to use. I had to order the second camera as they do not carry them in the store yet and pay $11 shipping so that was a bummer, but I need a camera for each baby.

I love this monitor! Our Summer Infant touch screen power button stopped working on the hand held so we switched it out for this one. The night vision is so sharp which is much improved from the Summer Infant one. When zooming it is a little grainy but still better than the other. I also prefer the buttons to the touch screen. You don't accidentally move the camera when carrying the hand held. This model also has fewer parts to worry about. The stand and rechargeable battery are built in so you just plug to charge like a phone. I also love that the camera can be mounted on the wall. I just put it up where the Summer one was. I would recommend this to all new moms!!

This baby monitor is absolutely amazing! I was hesitant about purchasing since it is for our second baby, and probably our last, but I'm so glad I ended up getting it. The reviews speak for themselves!! The picture quality is amazing, even in the dark, it's only grainy when I zoom in, but thats expected - my camera is mounted across the room. Love the fact that I can press a button on the handset, and turn on music to get my baby back to sleep, genius! Also love the intercom feature. I would recommend this monitor to everyone, worth every penny! Anyone who would give this monitor a bad review must have a defective one, exceeds ALL expectations!

I saw the product in the stores, and I read the reviews on this sight and others and had to give it a try!
The hype was right, great product does everything it says it can do and more. Bought the extra camera and using it to watch my older one and younger one at the same time.

I've now been using this for a few weeks and I can still say that I am 100% satisfied. To RESEARCHMOM, you must have purchased a defective unit. There is no way we can be talking about the same monitor. There is a signal strength indicator on the top left of the monitor that looks exactly like a cell phone and perhaps there is something blocking the signal. What you've described sounds like every other monitor I've tried except this pne. Picture and sound are still both crystal clear. The only inaccuracy I've found is the temperature. I think it's about 2-3 degrees off but as long as I now know that, I can use that as a baseline for what the real temperature is. Oh, I did take the monitor outside this past weekend to our neighbors house to test it out when we had dinner there and the picture and sound did still come in perfectly in the room that was closest to our house.

I recently had to buy a new monitor for my 1 year old son because the first monitor, which was a summer brand monitor, went out after only a year. I received that monitor from my baby registry. I had never seen monitors before and I did not know what to look for so I scanned the first thing I saw and thought that it would be a good one. Since it had a screen, I thought wow what an improvment from the ones with just the sound. Boy was I wrong! That monitor was so loud and staticky and the view of my son was so terrible that I could not tell which way he was laying sometimes. Then when it broke I was so upset, untill I realized there was my chance to get a new one. After a very long search of all the different monitors out there, I finally came across this one. Every monitor I would read about would have really bad reviews. Most of them would barely make 3 out of 5 stars and to me that is not good. I thought great I am gonna end up with another bad monitor. I wondered if a good monitor even exsisted. Then I found this one. I could not believe all the great review's. I knew I had to check it out. I read up on it some more and saw all the great option's on it and I knew it was the one for me. So I bought it last night and after just one night, let me tell you that it is all that it say's it is and some. What an improvement from my last one. The screen is so clear, the sound is great. It is very easy to use and so nice to be able to carry around with you, with no plug. The lullabies are wonderful and such a bonus. The intercom is a great bonus too and is comforting for my son. I really love the fact that I can zoom in and out and pan around the room. Not many can do that. Over all It is a great monitor. Well worth the money. You can find some cheaper, but they don't last long, and are not good quality. I have no con's about this monitor. It is so great. Sign up on their emailing list and you get a 20% off coupon that you can apply towards this monitor. It's a Great monitor. You wont regret buying it!

I have been through 2 other video monitors prior to finding this new motorola one and am beyond pleased. Other ones would lose signal and one stopped turning on after a month. This one is user friendly and has a nice size screen with a good picture.No monitor has a perfect picture especially at night. If you are trying to see if your childs eyes are open you should have them sleeping in the room with you!

horrible night picture, grainy and choppy

I hate giving bad reviews, but I would like to save someone the time I wasted. This monitor has great features except for the night vision. It is so grainy and choppy. I'm not tring to take pictures with the thing, but I need to see that my baby is ok. To me night is when I need to see my babies the most and best so I can look over see theyr'e okay and then try to go back to sleep. I couldn't even see if their eyes were open or closed. For the same exact price you can get the Summer Baby Touch that has very similiar features with an amazing night picture. I'm so relieved I didn't need to do another return! I will say analog has a better picture, but they are all digital now or have terrible reviews.

Best Video Monitor Ever!

Wow, I am impressed! I have been looking for a monitor to work in my 4000sf house and this is it! I have only had it for one night and it is 1000x better than the Summer monitors or the one I got from Fry’s (I returned them all). I tried 3 different monitors and none worked like this one. The quality of the picture is like watching TV compared to the other monitors with a fuzzy picture….it was crystal clear both in daylight and dark. I love that you can swivel the camera to see the whole room (and of course the inside of the whole crib) and that I can push a button and talk to my baby if needed. The bottom of the camera also has one of those built in nail hooks so you can hang it on the wall (which is what I did). Another great feature is that the color monitor shows the temperature in the room! You can also have up to 4 cameras but from reading the instructions, I don’t know how easy it would be to switch screens to see another room.
I had asked the guy in the store before buying it what customers were saying and he said that he had not seen a lot of people buying this yet…it was still too new. I know there is only one other review so I hope mine helps. I think that anyone buying this will be as impressed as I was especially if you need reception in a larger house (I still haven’t walked outside with it to see how far I can go). Motorola is an expert at making cell phones and other electrinoc devices, especially those that require security, so I was really hoping the quality would come though in this product also and it did. Best of all, you can use the BBBaby 20% off coupon or a Bed Bath and Beyond 20% off coupon!

I am so glad I held out for this monitor! The picture quality is amazing in both day and night modes. The talk to baby feature works great although your voice sounds funny. I love the pan/zoom feature. I can see the entire room without disturbing my peanut!
