Although pumping can be a pain, it's pretty easy with this pump. The Medela works well and is easy to carry around. The accessories are also very helpful.

Great pump, many conveniences

I love this pump! It is discreet, easy to travel with, and effective. I also would recommend the travel car charger.
I like the two-mode setting (faster beginning to encourage let-down and then slower) and I really like the fact that while it is automatic, I can switch back and forth between modes easily. It is also relatively easy to clean. And the bag is nice and compact and narrow, big enough to hold what you need but also easy to stow.
It works better than Ameda for me because I need larger than the standard 24 mm sized flange, but the Ameda size 28.5 was too big for me and the larger flange kit on the Amedas added an annoying insert and more parts to wash.
Some complain about getting condensation in the tubing- easy solution, just run the pump a few minutes without the flanges. Also, those who complain about milk backing up into the tubes/pump- make sure to clean the white membrane every time, and be sure your milk containers are large enough!

Customer service from Medela is great too- part of my faceplate from this pump cracked and when I called they sent me a brand new one, priority mail, completely free of charge. I highly recommend this pump!

Must Have for Nursing Mothers

This pump is awesome!!! I started using it when my son was 2 weeks old and I was able to get a freezer supply of over 150 ounces of breast milk by the time my son was 4 months old. Great for working mom's because the black shoulder bag is discrete. It allows you to pump either single or double.
If you have any trouble with the pump the Medela help line and customer service is great.
I never used to battery pack, but I highly recommend getting the vehicle adapter so that you can use the pump while on long car rides. I traveled with my family on a 5 hour trip when my son was 6 weeks old and I wouldn't have been able to make it without pumping.
Also, I use the little bag for carrying my son's food now that he's started solids. It's the perfect size.
Before you buy any pump, check with your health insurance to see if they cover the cost. Many do and if they don't, this pump is still worth every penny.
